Meet at Red Roof In I10/Ina for Paceline practice

Syncardia Sunday Paceline Ride 6:00 a.m. August 3rd, 2014

Start – Red Roof Inn parking lot I-10 / Ina – Enjoy coffee in lobby & restrooms available
60 miles 3.5 hours with stop – Mostly flat ride

Turn right on Ina to Silverbell , Right on Coachline, Right on Twin Peaks, Left on Frontage road to Picacho Peak Plaza for rest stop (nice restrooms and subway etc). Return to Ina / I-10 via Frontage Road

Paceline – Starts after warmup at twin peaks and frontage road – leader will call out ROTATE and make a lasso motion with their right arm. Let the group know if you have not been in a paceline before so you can be placed between two more experienced riders. Tips: The biggest thing is KEEP IT STEADY AND NO HARD BRAKING OR ACCELERATING Pull through at SAME speed as group speed – look quickly at computer if needed when it is your turn up front and pace is 20 mph make sure you stay at 20mph when pulling through.. resist the urge to speed up to get over to the slow side quicker. After moving to the slow side you should be going about 2 mph slower (18mph) than the faster side once again practice keeping it steady at same mph. DON’T look at the wheel in front of you, look 10 feet ahead DON’T half wheel unless there is a cross wind (echelon left, echelon right) Call out everything! Keep cadence at about 90 so you can react quickly to changes in terrain. If you can’t hold the pace stay out of the rotation in the back… jump back in when ready. Call out END when moving over to the faster side of rotation, call out CLEAR when the faster side riders rear wheel is at your front wheel. Have fun! Give good tips and accept feedback with an open mind!
